Brian White
On the cross country trails and on the track at Antioch High, Brian White separated himself from the field. Brian’s success began in 1988, his sophomore season, in cross country as he finished 4th at the BVAL Championships and qualified for the North Coast Section Championships. He followed that up with a stellar junior season in 1989 being named team MVP after All-League honors, a 7th place finish at the North Coast Section Championships and a 44th overall place at the California State Meet.
Those two years were just a prelude to his outstanding senior season, where Brian finished 6th overall at the California State Cross Country Championships. White finished 2nd at both the BVAL and North Coast Section Championships and was named to the All-League and All-NCS teams as well as team MVP. White’s phenomenal year continued in the spring as he broke the school records in both the 2 mile run (9:26) and the 5,000 meter run (15:40) on his way to becoming a double league champion in the 1,600 and 3,200. He followed with brilliant performances in the 3,200 Meter Run with a 2nd place finish at the North Coast Divisional Championships and a third place finish at the North Coast Section Meet of Champions which qualified him for the California State Meet.
After graduating, Brian attended Diablo Valley College where he continued to set standards in both sports. As a freshman in cross country he finished sixth at the Northern California Championships and led his team to the California Community College State Meet. He also finished in 7th Place at the Northern California Championships in the 10,000 meter run during track season. The following season White placed 5th in the 5,000 meters at the State Track Meet, after breaking the DVC school record in the 10,000 meters earlier that spring in a blistering time of 31:55.
