Kendra Rowland

2007 DVHS Volleyball

Kendra Rowland, a 2007 graduate from Deer Valley High School was a three-year starter, playing outside hitter for the varsity volleyball team. Kendra helped lead the Wolverine team to the NCS Volleyball Championship Finals her senior year.  She was an outstanding athlete and volleyball player who was recognized as member of the Contra Costa Times top 50 female athletes,  All-Contra Costa Times 1st team, BVAL Most Valuable Player, BVAL 1st Team, and DVHS Team Most Valuable Player her senior season. During her junior year, she was selected 1st Team BVAL and the DVHS Team Most Outstanding Player.

Kendra earned a volleyball scholarship to University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), where she shined both athletically and academically. During her freshmen and sophomore years, she was selected 1st and 2nd team All-Southland Conference, 1st team All-Southland, 3rd Team All-ESPN and Academic All-District VI Honors.  In addition, Kendra earned 1st team All-Tournament at the Boise State Invitational Tournament and 1st Team All-Tournament at the Baylor Classic Invitational Tournament.  

During her junior and senior years, she was selected 1st team All-Southland Conference, 1st Team All-Southland Conference Academic Athlete, two time All-Tournament MVP and All-Tournament 1st Team. In 2011, Kendra was honored as the UTSA Female Athlete of the Year and received the Dean’s List recognition all four years at UTSA, All-Southland Conference Honor Roll and NCAA Outstanding Athlete Award all four years of college. 

Kendra Rowland has shined as a student-athlete from Deer Valley High School to the University of Texas at San Antonio, having excelled both on the volleyball court and in the classroom. She has a stellar list of athletic and academic accomplishments that has placed her into the Antioch Sports Legends Hall of Fame, Class of 2024.
